Middle Georgia State University
As part of a multi-building renovation, the mid-century modern library on Middle Georgia State University’s Cochran campus will be renovated into a 21st century learning commons. The existing space of low ceilings, limited windows, and tired finishes will be transformed with reorganized collections, high tech study rooms, an open stairway, exposed ceilings, and a mix of lounge and collaboration spaces. Addition of a café, media labs, and a screening room on the main level will enhance the student experience to make this a destination space at the heart of campus. The ground level will be fit-out for classrooms, computer labs, and offices for the School of Information Technology. Within a very tight budget, the design team will also update furniture, finishes, lighting, electrical, and mechanical systems, provide all new restrooms, and improve ADA accessibility throughout.
