This 12,307 square foot Award Winning Fire Station was completed utilizing a Design-Build delivery method. 2WR worked utilizing an Integrated Design Process with the City, Fire Department, and General Contractor. The facility includes five apparatus bays along with living and operational areas.
Firefighter health and welfare were a major focus of the design. During the programming phase discussions focused on how to incorporate features aiding in mental and physical well-being. The resulting design included features such as:
An outdoor covered patio, which adds a “family” element while providing a venue for cookouts and exterior recharging.
- A weight and cardio room for exercise,
- A multi-purpose training room for group activities,
- A large kitchen and dining area, again to reinforce “family”.
- A grant was utilized to add solar panels, thereby reducing operational costs.
