A Premier Country Club for Competitive Swimming
2WR Architects collaborated with Henry County to design a state-of-the-art country club aquatic facility, setting a new benchmark for regional swimming venues. Our team developed an innovative, 65,000-sq.-ft. complex that serves as the home for Henry County’s middle and high school swim teams while also hosting major regional swimming events. The facility includes a 50-meter Olympic-sized pool and a 25-yard pool with up to 28 lanes, supporting high-caliber competitions, intensive training programs, and community events.
To enhance both functionality and aesthetics, 2WR designed a spacious pool deck capable of accommodating over 1,000 swimmers. Additionally, we integrated 1,500 club seats, ensuring optimal spectator views. Our design also incorporated advanced climate control and dehumidification systems, creating a comfortable indoor environment year-round. The facility includes modern locker rooms, allowing athletes and visitors to prepare for events with ease and comfort.

Sustainable and High-Tech Design
Sustainability played a key role in 2WR Architect’s approach to this country club project. The south-facing orientation maximizes natural light, reducing energy consumption. Furthermore, we incorporated foldable glass walls and clerestory windows, enhancing ventilation and energy efficiency. To minimize the building’s carbon footprint, we used deep overhangs and multi-colored aluminum panels, seamlessly blending the structure into its surroundings.
Technology also plays a major role in this facility. 2WR integrated high-resolution LED scoreboards for real-time event updates, ensuring an enhanced experience for athletes and spectators. Additionally, the country club features premium seating and lounge areas, allowing visitors to enjoy competitions in a relaxing, modern environment.
Future Expansion and Community Impact
2WR designed this facility with future expansion in mind. Plans include an outdoor water park and amphitheater, further increasing recreational opportunities for club members and the surrounding community. Thanks to its cutting-edge amenities, sustainable features, and high-performance design, this country club will remain a top destination for competitive swimming and community engagement.
