Innovative Design for an Elementary School in Muscogee County
2WR has partnered with Muscogee County School District to design Rigdon Road Elementary, a state-of-the-art elementary school in Muscogee County. Replacing a smaller facility on an adjacent site, the new school provides expanded learning spaces, modern amenities, and advanced technology. 2WR developed three design concepts, ensuring the final selection met the district’s budget while maximizing educational opportunities.
Technology-Enhanced Classrooms for Interactive Learning
As a future-ready school, Rigdon Road Elementary integrates cutting-edge educational technology to enhance the student experience. 2WR incorporated smart board systems, LCD displays, Media Retrieval Systems, and student computer stations, creating a dynamic and interactive environment. These tools help equip students with essential digital skills while supporting teachers in delivering engaging lessons.

Maximizing Natural Light and Open Learning Spaces
The two-story educational wing features a design that encourages openness and connectivity. North and south-facing exterior walls maximize natural light in classrooms, promoting student focus and reducing energy consumption. Additionally, playful window placements in corridors introduce extra daylight, creating a visually engaging space.
To further enhance the student experience, 2WR introduced vibrant interior colors and textures, making the school more inviting. These elements contribute to a stimulating and collaborative environment that supports both academic and social development.
Sustainability and Energy-Efficient Features
Rigdon Road Elementary includes the first new gymnasium in Muscogee County with HVAC, ensuring year-round comfort for students and staff. Additionally, the project incorporates LEED components, prioritizing sustainability and energy efficiency. These features help reduce operational costs while creating a healthier indoor environment.
