A luxury restaurant renovation must balance historical preservation and modern elegance. 2WR Architects collaborated with Sage Hospitality to transform an existing restaurant and bar inside the historic Oxford Hotel. The goal was to create a refined five-star steakhouse, Urban Farmer, while maintaining the building’s timeless charm.
Creating an Open and Inviting Dining Experience
To achieve a seamless flow, 2WR removed a dividing hallway, merging the bar and dining areas into one expansive, open-concept space. This layout maximized usable space and enhanced the restaurant’s ambiance. Decorative panels and dropped ceilings were eliminated to increase natural light, creating a taller, airier feel. Carefully curated finishes and high-end materials further elevate the sophisticated atmosphere.

State-of-the-Art Kitchen and Bar Design
The kitchen underwent a complete renovation, incorporating state-of-the-art equipment to support the farm-to-table culinary concept. 2WR designed a centrally located bar and charcuterie area, serving as both a focal point for guests and an efficient workspace for staff. The redesigned layout enhances both functionality and aesthetics, making the space a welcoming hub for diners and mixologists alike. Premium materials and thoughtful lighting design reinforce Urban Farmer’s upscale brand.
Enhancing Exterior and Guest Comfort
Beyond the main dining area, 2WR redesigned and upgraded the restrooms and restaurant exterior to complement the high-end aesthetic. Two large operable windows were added, connecting the restaurant to Denver’s bustling streets and bringing in more natural light. This addition enhances Urban Farmer’s vibrancy and appeal, making it a must-visit dining destination.
To further elevate the experience, 2WR integrated custom furniture and high-quality finishes, ensuring a seamless blend of modern luxury and historic charm. Every detail was carefully considered to create a memorable dining environment.
